Thereâs a quiver in his voice when Liam leans his head against her shoulder and says âI hope itâs love. Iâm trying really hard to make it love.â

When Liam rides into the Wild Hunt, Theo's soulmark reveals Liam's name in white scars. Theo thought soulmates were stupid before, but heâs in love with the idea of Liam being his soulmate. First step, get Hayden out of the picture. Second step, get Liam to believe in soulmates. Next step, romance? All while a supernatural vs. hunters war is going on. What can go wrong?

Theo and Liam have a one night stand. They thought they could ignore it and forget it happened but fate has different plans.

Theo keeps saving Liam, much to his own frustration and Liam's surprise, but this time he goes so far that neither of them can simply pretend there isn't more to it any longer. Theo is happy with the way things are and doesn't think he really deserves any better, but Liam is confused and needs to know why Theo is always helping him, even if his arrogant smirk makes him want to kill the asshole.
Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf by malandrina, TheodoreR

"What the hell is he doing here?" This is a question Liam too has often asked himself, and the fact that his ex-girlfriend suddenly came back from another state to ask him as well doesn't help him find an answer. What the hell is Theo doing there? With them? There is no immediate and logical answer, Theo is there and that's enough. ______ Theo has pursued the dream of perfection for so long, years and years, he literally stole his sister's heart to become the perfect evil the Dread Doctors dreamed of, and everything that attracts him now, that really attracs him, instinctively and viscerally, it's the furthest from perfection he could ever imagined. It's the unusual, the detail out of place, it's the muddy boots under the skirt of little red riding hood.

Like, they donât even play the same sports, but both teams donât take the other really serious and they constantly prank each other and make fun of each other. Theo, captain of the Football team, and Liam, captain of the Lacrosse team, and they both claim they canât stand each other and it would be all so easy if it werenât for the fact that both find their counterpart more than just attractive and maybe one of their screaming matches on the field ends with them furiously making out under the shower after everybody else is gone. And maybe it becomes a regular occurrence from then on; first, they fight and bicker and then they make out. And maybe itâs getting harder and harder to pretend they hate each otherâs guts because there is far more between them than just attraction. Oh, well, nobody has to know, right?

Death Eater!Sirius Black AU
Marlene McKinnon learned a long time ago what kind of casualties war brings. She doesn't need a reminder in the form of Sirius Black.
And yet.
Word count: 6650
___
July 1981
The grandfather clock in the McKinnon residence strikes nine oâclock just as Marlene McKinnon brings out the cake, decorated with exactly seventeen candles. She tried to light them with the Muggle lighter Lily gave her but her scorched fingers quickly compelled her to use her wand instead.
Felicie exclaims in delight when she sees the cake adorned with blueberriesâher favourite. Their mother spent all morning making it while Marlene lounged around the kitchen, pretending to be of help. Still, thatâs more than their dallying brothers did, so.
âItâs gorgeous,â she exclaims, her blonde ponytail swishing behind her as she bounces in spot. The four-leaf clover necklace Marlene gave her glimmers around her pale throat.
Marlene grins, carefully depositing the cake on the table, around which the entire McKinnon family is gathered. Her three brothersâPip, Theo, Matthewâtheir parents, and Mumâs father. Even Dadâs parents have come, after having sworn to Marlene that they would keep any lifestyle-related and lifetime-partners-related remarks to themselves. So far, they seem to have stuck to their end of the deal so Marleneâs smile doesnât diminish when it passes over their old faces.
âThank you, mama.â Felicie leans forward to blow out the candles but Pip, as he was dubbed by one-year-old Marlene who could not yet say his full name Phillip, tugs on her ponytail and pulls her back. âYou know the rules,â he says, pointing to the clock on the wall, while the rest of them nod sagely.
Itâs a foolish tradition, as Felicie doesnât hesitate to tell them, but the McKinnons have always been adamant about the rule that one can only blow out candles only when itâs the time they were actually born. It tends to be impractical and has been so on many occasions, but Marlene adores it still, foolishness and all.
The arm on the clock moves to the second line and Felicie blows out the candles with a grin, while the rest of them cheer. The smoke swirls up, creating a mist around her sister, and Marleneâs heart constricts at the childish delight on her face. She still has a year left at Hogwarts, another year when they can try and shelter her from the reality of the outside world that Dumbledore works so hard to keep from them. Marlene hopes that once Felicieâs finished, she wonât have to hear about it at all.
Of course, her sister always has been brighter than most and has made it abundantly clear that she knows what theyâre trying to do and that she finds it stupid, but appreciates it nonetheless. Marlene studiously ignores her every time she tries to bring up the Order. Her brothers, for once, seem to be doing the same as her.
âAlright, now the best part,â Felicie says as their mother reaches for the knife, brushing her blonde hair, the same as Marlene, Matthew and Felicieâs, out of her face. And at that moment, as Marlene looks over her family, her heart feeling like it might crack apart with the love she feels for these people, it all goes to hell.
At four minutes past nine, exactly two minutes after Felicieâs birthday, the door at her back explodes into splinters.
Marlene has her wand in her hand before she can blink, as do Matthew and Theo, but the Death Eaters are faster.
They spill into the dining room, silver masks like stolen starlight, spells shooting out of their wands before theyâre even fully through. They throw all of them back with a single unanimously-cast spell, knocking the breath clean out of Marleneâs chest. The wall she hits is cold, the impact with it a hard collision with reality.
One of Death Eatersâ spells hits their mother and she crumples like one of the puppets Marlene and Pip used to play with. She didnât even get to reach for her wand.
âMum!â Pip reaches for her, but heâs too late and he narrowly avoids a jet of green light. His retaliating curse is a swift, cold reaction, the impact of which Marlene never gets to see because sheâs forced to throw up a shield to deflect a jet of sickly purple light.
It gives her enough time to jump to her feet, breath be damned, and shoots off a curse of her own. It feels off, she feels off, the floor beneath her feet not steady enough, her hand lacking the fluidity it usually possesses.
The offending Death Eater doesnât seem to be deterred by her spells, which is another contributor to the sleek, heavy feeling in the pit of her stomach, and his attack pushes her back into the living room. Another two join his efforts and a cold sort of realisation comes over Marlene. Theyâre trying to separate them. Theyâre trying to separate her from her family.
The world seems to fade from view. No. No.
She spins her wand, fights a little fiercer, a little harsher but itâs little useâmost of her spells are deflected by one or another, or seem to cause so little damage they find it laughable. One of them hits her side, tearing a long gash down the side of her ribcage.
âThat is a new top,â she gasps out as she twirls her hand and sends him flying back several feet. The world seems a little blurrier, then, but she manages to make two consecutive spells rebound off her shield. She chances a look towards the dining room, where her family of eight is surrounded by nearly twice as many Death Eaters and fighting a losing battle. But at least theyâre fighting.
That little glance costs herâher shield seems to lose its potency and when one of the Death Eater shoots a disarming spell at her, it passes through. Her wand slips out of her grasp, flying uselessly towards the couch.
Marlene chokes on a laugh when a dark stream of light knocks her back, sending her crumpling onto the floor. After all this time, after so many successful missions and won battles, this is what gets her. A disarming spell, a second of diverted attention. Dorcas will be so disappointed. Marlene is glad, suddenly, that Dorcas politely declined the invitation to come, claiming to have a duty for the Order; that she is far away from this, even though Marlene was furious about her flimsy excuse only hours ago.
Her side burns, her lungs canât seem to draw in enough air and she canât move but all she can focus on is the fact that the sounds of fighting have stopped. There is only raucous laughter and laboured breathing. Marlene dreads the moment that stops too.
She has no time to think about it further. A Cruciatus hits her and she trashes as the pain spreads along her body, seeping into her muscles, twining around her bones. The world blurs and then sharpens, focusing on that single thing still existing in herâpain, all-consuming, vicious. She screams and screams and yet she finds it in herself to be grateful that no one else is screaming with her. That she, not her family, is their focus. Then, as abruptly as it started, the pain stops.
Someone stands over her. His hood is drawn up, his mask firmly in place but Marlene knows heâs grinning anyway. âWell, would you look at how the mighty have fallen,â he says. His voice, rough and muffled, is familiar; but then, they all are these days. If she were to remove his mask, chances are she would know whoever is underneath it. Travers, maybe. Nott, Dolohov, Macnair, one of the Lestranges are all as likely. He crouches down, runs a hand down the side of her face. Marlene wishes she could bite it. âIâve been waiting a long time to get my hands on you.â
âGoing to have to wait for a bit longer, Travers,â says a voice just a little bit farther away and this time it is familiar for a whole different reason. The footsteps that approach them are soft, measured. Â âGo find someone else to play with. I have a score to settle with her.â
Traversâher guess being right brings little satisfactionâhisses, âI got here first.â
âOh, Travers, donât you know that in the company of women, you shouldnât boast about coming first?â
A part of Marlene, a small, tiny part wishes she could see Traversâs face just for that split second; it would bring so much satisfaction before the imminent pain and death. The rest of her coils in dread when he grumbles and moves away from herâbut steps toward another body instead. A body with a blonde ponytail and a limp hand outstretched towards Marlene. As if her sister wanted to reach her before she was cut down.
Felicieâs eyes are big, their blue sea-rich, and she doesnât take them off Marlene as Travers steps over her and reaches for her neck, the necklace there now painted red. She lets out a small sound, somewhere between a whimper and a sob as Traversâs hands roam lower.
âNo,â Marlene says, twitching toward her sister. It doesnât do anythingâthe spell holds and Marlene is stuck in place. She tries again, her own bloodied hand reaching out to Felicie. Felicieâs fingers twitch. âNo, please, take me instead, please, please.â
A figure looms and Sirius Black crouches over her, hiding her sister from her view, although she can still hear Felicie, her pleas. Heâs smiling, but his eyes are cold. He brushes back a lock of her sweat-damp, blood-matted hair, tucks it behind her ear. âNo, worries, Marlene,â he says, voice midnight-soft, âyouâll get your turn too.â
A guttural scream tears through the house. Pip is begging as they torture him, Marleneâs heart screaming with him. Pip, her Pip, her brother, who pushed her off swings and tugged on her hair and told her stupid jokes when their grandparentsâ hate cut too deep, too personal. Pip, who is dying.
âPlease,â she whispers again to Siriusâs blank face. She remembers a time when that face was the most expressive thing she had ever known, full of rage and pain and razor-sharp joy. She hates the memory of it more than this face before her because that one was only a mask, a lie. âPlease, Iâm the one that you want.â
âWe want all of you.â His voice is as cold as his hand that he slips under the hem of her top. Marlene canât stop him from it, just as she canât stop the screams that have now joined Pipâs. A tear trickles down her face as Sirius points his wand at her. Theyâre all going to die and itâs all her fault for insisting they have a proper party for Felicieâs birthday. She just wanted a day of normalcy for herâfor all of them.
Their eyes meet, but the indifference she finds in his is too much and she closes her eyes, goes deep inside that part of herself, just as Moody taught her, and waits for the pain to come. At least she can keep the information to herself. At least she can do that for the Order. But the pain doesnât come.
Instead, thereâs a voice. Mack. Mack, can you hear me?
Marlene opens her eyes. She looks at Sirius but his face remains impassive, his lips unmoving, just as his voice continues on the outskirts of her mind. He doesnât try and delve deeper, even though she feels the power behind the weak barrier sheâs thrown up that tells her he very well could.
She nods, the shock getting the best of her. No oneâs called her that in years.
His hand is on her hip, but it does not reach lower or higher. Instead, his thumb circles her hipbone in a way that is strangely reminiscent of the way he used to comfort her during that crazy week in seventh year they actually thought they could sleep together and ignore their respective pining. Good, he says. His voice is softer than sheâs heard it in years, or maybe ever, full of weariness and barely-there strain. Iâm going to get you out of here but you need to listen to me. You need to do as I say. It takes a lot of effort for him to talk to her like this, she realises when he pauses. She can feel herself nod again. Then he orders, Scream.
Marlene doesnât spare a moment to think why this might be a colossally bad idea. Her family is already dying and she is about to be tortured for information. Playing along with whatever Sirius is trying to get at seems like a way to appease him, at least, if it turns out heâs only messing with her in the end. Although the sincerity in his voice, the pain underlining every word make her doubt he is. So Marlene takes a slow breath and channels all her hate, all her fear, and pain into her lungsâthen she screams as she did only minutes ago.
As her throat works itself raw, Sirius bends down low over her, his head nearly touching hers as she writhes. âYour wand is just a bit to the right and up from you,â he murmurs into her ear. His hand holds tight onto her hip but not enough to hurt her. An anchor, she thinks, holding her there, to keep her from slipping away. âCan you reach it?â
Marleneâs fingertips brush the smooth polished wood of her wand when she uses her thrashing as an excuse to move herself an inch closer to it. If she had an extra second to throw herself toward it, she could potentially succeed. âYes,â she whispers, her throat too raw from the screaming to be able to do much else.
âGood. Grab it and throw me back.â He straightens and points his wand at her as he says, voice again loud and cold, âCrucio.â She tenses but while there are the power and the command for the spell, there is no intent behind it so her body doesnât even twitch. She takes the hint anyway and lets another shriek rip out of her. He lowers his voice again, his lips barely moving, and says, âThe whole house is surrounded with anti-apparition wards but there is a spot, by that gnome with the blue hat that isnât covered. Go there and disapparate.â
Someone elseâs screams echo through the house. Her motherâs or her grandmotherâs, Marlene isnât sure. Maybe both. Others have been drowned out by the Death Eatersâ laughter, their cold mocking voices. She thinks she hears Bellatrixâs high notes among them, taunting one of Marleneâs brothers. Marlene hates all of them. When she finds out who they are, she will kill them, one by one.
âSirius, please, my familyââ
This time, his voice is drowned out by Felicieâs scream, but there is a touch of pain in it now, a splinter embedded in the lowest of undertones. Marleneâs chest hurts, her doubt increased by a fraction. âTheyâll be okay, Mack, I promise, but I canât blowââ
Marlene surges up and butts her head against his, with as much force as she can muster. It makes her head ring and small flecks of light swim in and out of her sight, but it also makes him shout and stumble back, clutching his nose, giving her enough time to throw herself toward her wand and grab onto it. She doesnât know if she herself that turns or her wand that does it for her but in the next moment it is pointed directly at Sirius as she shouts, âExpulso!â
Sirius is blasted back, directly into Travers, knocking him clean off Felicieâs body. Marlene hesitates, wanting to run to her sister, but there is no way she can take on fifteen Death Eaters and end up any different than she was seconds ago. Marlene bolts for the back door, holding tightly onto her wand, and tries to ignore the way her whole left ribcage burns with the effort. She hears the thud of heavy footsteps behind her and pushes herself harder. Come on, come on, comeoncomeoncomeon.
A jet of red light just sails over her head when she throws the back door open and slams it shut behind her. She stumbles down the steps, barely managing to keep her balance on the stone still slippery from the rain earlier in the afternoon, her heart beating a staccato into her ears, her blood, her belly. She uses the stairsâ newel to propel herself around the corner and runs toward the blue-hatted gnome at the end of the row of her motherâs lilies. She throws herself on the ground and skids toward it, just as someone tries to grab her. She thinks there are too many stars above her, swimming too close, and she doesnât recognise the constellations.
The small spot free of anti-apparition wards is like a breath of fresh air, the sizzling from her skin gone for just a moment, the pain thrumming all over replaced by one single thought. Dorcas, Dorcas, Dorcas.
The momentum of whoever was behind her causes him to stumble forward and she can see him clearly as he manages to stop himself in front of her. Siriusâs hair is mussed, blood gushing from his nose and down his front and she knows he will have to suffer for this, but in the split second it takes for her to disappear, she can swear heâs smiling.
*********
Marlene wakes up in a room that has become far too familiar in the past few years. The walls are white, the covers of the bed are white and generally everything is white. The perspective is different, though, as sheâs spent most of her visits to this kind of room sitting in the bedside chairs rather than in the bed itself. Dorcas dozes in one of those chairs now, her hand loosely wrapped around Marleneâs, her brown-black ringlets mussed around her head.
She stirs when Marlene shifts, her side throbbing painfully, and shoots up once she finally registers her movement. âLene,â she breathes, moving as if to lurch forward and hoist herself onto the bed beside her but then seems to remember herself. She settles for squeezing her hand, so strongly itâs almost painful, but Marlene wouldnât have her let go for the whole world. âHow are you feeling?â she asks, her thumb rubbing soothing circles into the back of Marleneâs hand.
Marleneâs mouth is dry, for one. Her head is pounding, her side is burning and she feels like sheâs been run over by one of those Muggle lorries, for two, three, and four. âGreat,â she says instead of counting them all off. Or rasps, more like.
Dorcas gives her a distinctly unimpressed look and reaches for her wand without a word, flicking it to conjure up a glass of water. Marlene drinks until she feels she might burst and puts it down on the bedside table. Â Â
Dorcas stays quiet until then, her eyes just a ring of clear brown around a pit of black, her fingers over Marleneâs trembling. âI was so afraid Iâd lost you,â she whispers, pressing a kiss to the back of Marleneâs fingers, her palm, the inside of her wrist.
âNever,â Marlene says but her voice shakes, her throat burning with the knowledge of how close to it sheâd actually come. Then, with the clearing of her head, she remembers. âWhat about my family? Did theyââ
âTheyâre alive,â Dorcas hastens to say, saving Marlene from finishing her sentence. She gives her a reassuring squeeze, though a shade of worry still darkens that lovely face. Alive does not mean okay, Marlene reminds herself and braces herself for the news she is about to receive. âYour mum and your Daâs parentsâitâs still touch-and-go, Lene. Itâs been a week, butââ She shrugs helplessly, biting her lip. Marleneâs grandparents have never been particularly kind to Dorcas, because of her blood status or because of her skin or because of her gender, Marlene hasnât figured out yet, but the worry on Dorcasâs face despite it makes her heart squeeze. There was a time she thought she would never be lucky enough to be loved by someone like this.
âCan I see the others?â She needs to see Felicie and Pip and Theo and Matt and Dad and Grandpopâshe needs to know if the flashes she has of them are true, or worse. She doesnât let herself guess.
Dorcas shakes her head. âThe healers havenât let anyone in yet. Potter had to pull some considerable strings to get me in here at all.â
âOh.â The disappointment of being denied seeing her family and the worry of what state theyâre in feels like a weight in the pit of her stomach but itâs alleviated a little by the warmth of Dorcasâs hand, at least. âIâm glad youâre here.â
Dorcas smiles, but itâs shaky at best. It is, Marlene reflects, kind of like she herself feels; turmoil underneath her skin, singeing through her veins. âMarlene,â she says, her name like a prayer on her lips, âMarlene, what happened?â She swallows, the line of her elegant neck bobbing with it. âHow did youââ
âGood morning, love,â says a mediwitch as she breezes into the room, easily recognisable by her pale blue robes. âGood to see you finally awake. Youâve been out for some time.â She gives her a friendly smile as she touches Marleneâs forehead. âNo fever. How do you feel?â
Marlene shrugs. âOkay,â she mumbles. She doesnât particularly care for hospitals or mediwitches.
The mediwitch doesnât seem discouraged. She only taps her wand against Marleneâs head, her side, her thigh and says, âYou were in quite a shape when you arrived.â Well, Marlene will have to take her word for it. She can barely remember her arrival at the hospital, beyond the blood gushing from more than one separate place, and the pain thrumming through every part of her body. She thinks someone told her sheâd Splinched herself. She isnât even sure how she managed to come here. She opens her mouth to ask either one of them but the mediwitch goes on, âYou seem much better now.â
âWell, we are in a hospital,â Marlene points out, relishing in the familiar feeling of warmth when Dorcas hides a smile behind her hand. She remembers a time when Dorcasâs smiles were few and far between, like small trophies every time she coaxed one out of her. Lately, they seem to be getting rarer again.
The mediwitch only gives her another smile, a little indulgent. Then she shoves a few potions at her, only one of which Marlene recognises. Memory potion. Sheâd ask why she needs it but then she couldnât ask, âHow did I get here?â She dutifully drains it, then the other two, while the mediwitch and Dorcas exchange a look. It tastes like metal, like blood. Marlene reaches for her glass of water.
Dorcas opens her mouth, but another voice says, âI believe I will be able to answer that question the best.â
Minerva McGonagallâs face is as stern as itâs ever been, though with more lines than Marlene has apparently cared to remember, her black hair threaded with more grey than it should be.
âProfessor McGonagall,â Marlene says, well aware that sheâs been out of school for over three years. The compulsion has never stopped, not with Dumbledore, not with Flitwick and apparently not with McGonagall either.
âIâd like a moment with Miss McKinnon, please,â McGonagall says, with a glance at the mediwitch that conveys why-are-you-still-here better than Marlene could have managed it in a speech and a pointed look at Dorcas. âAlone.â
The mediwitch, done with her job, scampers off (Marlene wonders if McGonagall was her professor, too; she certainly looks youngâand scaredâenough), but Dorcas, less easily intimidated, draws herself up and meets McGonagallâs eyes with her chin up, a look thatâs always made Marlene want to kiss her.
âIâm not leaving her side,â she says. Her eyes narrow. âWhat do you want with her, anyway?â Dorcas has certainly never shared her difficulty of giving their Professors anything else than what she thinks they deserve. Itâs what earned her so many detentions back at Hogwarts.
âThat is between me and her.â McGonagall gives her a look over the rim of her spectacles. âYou will recall, Miss Meadowes, that I was the one that brought Miss McKinnon to St Mungoâs. I certainly donât intend to cause her harm.â
Dorcas purses her mouth, her jaw ticking, but Marlene can read her well enough to know that sheâs slowly backing down. She squeezes her hand and brings it to her mouth, giving her a shaky smile that takes more effort than she wants to admit. She doesnât know why, but she wants to talk to her old professor alone. She has a feeling itâs important. The potion she took only minutes ago seems to be telling her the same thing.
âItâs okay, Dorcas,â she says, quietly enough that only Dorcas can hear her. âI think Iâd like some tea, if you donât mind getting it for me.â
Dorcas studies her for a minute, her brown eyes dark. She has the most intense eyes Marleneâs ever seen and most of the time itâs a goddamn blessing but right now Marlene just feels like sheâs searching for a truth Marlene canât give her. âIf youâre sure,â she says at last, slowly standing up.
Marlene only nods.
Dorcas presses a kiss to her forehead, her lips soft though a bit dry, and walks out the door with one last sharp look at McGonagall.
As soon as the door closes behind her, McGonagall swishes her wand in a movement that Marlene recognises to be a silencing charm. Then she looks at her, one eyebrow raised, lips thin. âArenât you going to ask me a question?â she asks.
âOh. Oh, erââ Marlene grapples for words, silently glad that Moody isnât here. He wouldâve had her hide. âWhat did you say to me after I punched Wilkes in fifth year?â She adds, that compulsion getting the better of her, âProfessor?â
A hint of a smile appears on McGonagallâs face. ââNext time, at least do it while I am not looking,ââ she says, which is correct and absolutely one of Marleneâs favourite memories. She toasted to McGonagallâs health a week afterwards. âWhat was the first thing I gave you detention for?â
âHexing Lily Evansâs hair pink.â
âCorrect.â The smile slowly fades from McGonagallâs face as she comes to sit in the chair beside her bed, next to the one Dorcas occupied. Her face offers no clue as to why sheâs here, her eyes rather too intense to have a calming effect. âI wanted to commend you,â she says slowly, âfor the exceptional show of your bravery and magical talent that allowed you to escape the Death Eatersâ grasp and get help for your family.â
Marlene raises an eyebrow. Something is not right, something about her expression and her postureâtoo high-strung, even for her. âYou came all the way here and sent Dorcas out just to tell me that, Professor?â she asks. Her voice is getting hoarse again as she reaches for the glass of water, thanking Dorcas silently that she charmed it to be self-refilling.
âWell, itâs no small feat,â says McGonagall, âwhat you managed. Escaping unaided from a house full of Death Eaters.â
Marlene blinks. Her memory tells her differently, a nagging voice whispering that there was somethingâno, there was someone. âBut I didnât,â she says with more certainty than she feels. âEscape unaided. At least, I donât think.â She shakes her head. âYou found me?â
âI did.â
âBut Iâwhen I Disapparated,â she says slowly, the memories trickling in almost in time with her words. The details are still blurry somewhere, but she remembers it in peculiar flashes. An explosion. A wall against her back, making it impossible to breathe. Cold grey eyes, accompanied by a warm voice. Felicie, on the floor, bloodied, a dark figure over her. Pip, screaming. The gnome with the blue hat and stars above, her lungs straining for air. And thenâpain, voices, someone trying to calm her down, Miss, youâre alright, youâre safe, you hit your head. âWhen I Disapparated, I thought of Dorcas. Iâm sure. I thought of her and I ended upââ She looks around the disgustingly white room, breathes in the smell of potions and healing magic. Sheâs certain she didnât think of this the moment she disappeared from her house. ââhere.â
McGonagall sighs. âI should have come before they gave you that memory potion,â she says, sounding almost tired, âbut Rowena always has been cheerfully efficient.â
Marlene glances at her wand, lying on the bedside table, as if it might offer any explanation to McGonagallâs words. It stays painfully quiet.
McGonagall runs a hand over her face, in a rather uncharacteristic show of humanity. âHe should have confounded you, but then you might have been unable to escape and I donât dare to obliviate or confound you now. It would be too suspicious. And all that magic your bodyâs been subjected toââ she shakes her head, then looks up at her, her eyes far too sharp for Marleneâs liking. âDo you remember, Miss McKinnon, what happened the night the Death Eaters attacked your family?â
She breathes in deep. âMore or less.â
McGonagallâs voice is soft, as if she is afraid of being overheard; even here, even surrounded by a wall of silencing charms. âThen you remember what Sirius did.â
Sirius. They had been Siriusâs eyes, his voice, his hands, sheâs sure of it. She knew he had been there, in an abstract sort of way. It makes sense that he wasâhe is, after all, Voldemortâs right-hand man.
A memory surges up, unbidden, his voice soft but firm, Theyâll be okay, Mack, I promise, but I canât blowâ
She hit him then, she can remember that much, but she can venture a guess as to what he was going to say. My cover. Realisation comes slowly at first, then all at once and Marleneâs brain struggles to review all the events itâs catalogued in the past years. She can already feel a headache coming.
Sirius, on the Kingâs Cross, eyes bleak, his parentsâ figures like looming statues just meters behind him. Be safe, Mack.
Sirius, in the square, standing before them with his hand steady, but his eyes like shattering diamonds.
Sirius, one of the best wizards of their year if not the whole decade, missing them or using spells that are childâs play in comparison to the rest of the Death Eatersâ.
Jamesâs words, unsteady, unsure, He could have killed us and he didnât. He justâleft.
âYouâheâheâs a spy,â she whispers, the weight, the deliberateness of his actions finally so, so clear. He got her out. He pretended, he faked, he made sure she escaped.
âNot exactly a spy,â McGonagall says, her cheeks hollow. âWe have an understanding. Iâm the only one that knows.â She takes off her hat, puts it in the chair beside her and folds her hands back in her lap. âYou must understand, Miss McKinnon, what Iâm about to tell you cannot, under any circumstances leave this room. Sirius risked more than his life getting you out of there. If anyone were to find outââ The rest of her sentence hangs unspoken but clear.
Marlene can only nod.
McGonagall sighs. âWhile he was pretending to torture you, Sirius put a spell on you.â His hand, Marlene remembers, resting on her hip. She thought it an anchor. Not too far off the mark then. âItâs a complicated spell, and all the more difficult for having done it wordlessly and under such duress. The spell essentially made you a kind of portkey, ensuring that when you Disapparated, you would end up here.â She gives Marlene a funny look. âOf course, neither one of us expected that your will would be so strong it would fight the spell. You Splinched yourself, partly perhaps because of your physical state, but luckily you didnât go far. I found you a block away, but you were barely coherent by then. I knew what was going on so I didnât have to demand information from you. I merely took you in and left you in the care of healers. And I went to the Order headquarters.â
Marlene understands suddenly, with razor-sharp clarity. It was a risky plan, almost every step of it imbued with the possibility of going awry, but all the more brilliant for it. âYou were waiting for me,â she breathes. âYou needed to find me so that you could have the excuse to tell the Order. To not endanger Sirius. Or me.â
McGonagall nods. âSirius had sent me a Patronus right before they left for your house. If I had passed the information on immediately, everything Sirius had worked for would be gone. The Order might have also doubted me.â
Marlene exhales a long breath of air. Itâs a lot to take in in under five minutes, not to mention with a pounding headache. âBut Dumbledoreââ
âSirius didnât want to involve him,â McGonagall says briskly. Her mouth thins, her eyes darkening. âHe wants nothing to do with the Order. And I donât blame him for it.â She adds, softer, almost gently, âSirius can be trusted. I will bet my life on it.â Her voice leaves no room for argument and despite herself, Marlene believes her. She leans forward, somehow still managing to keep her posture impeccable. One day, when all of this is over, Marlene will ask her for lessonsâit will make her mother thrilled. âNo one can know, Miss McKinnon, what heâs doing.â
âAnd the Death Eaters? They donât suspect him?â
McGonagall shakes her head. âSo far, he hasnât given them a reason not to. You-Know-Who takes him for his most loyal subject.â
Marlene shudders at the thought of what exactly Sirius had to do to achieve that kind of title among the fiercest of supporters. Just to have received the Dark Mark, he had to have ripped his heart out. She can almost hear his laugh at that, bitter but more bark than bite. I donât have a heart, Mack, he would say while slipping a cigarette between his lips, lighting it with the tip of his thumb. My mother took it away long ago.
âHe had to pay for letting you get away, of course, but he is fine now,â McGonagall says. Her voice, the pain in it slowly disappearing, lowers. She cares about him, Marlene realises, as much as any of them do. âAs far as you know, Sirius tortured you and you barely managed to get away. No one, not even Miss Meadowes, can know about what truly happened.â Her eyes are dark. Sheâs always been a no-nonsense sort of woman, strict but fair, not gentle, but never unkind either. It is the first time Marlene sees a different kind of edge to her. âIf you donât intend to agree, I am not above obliviating you.â
Marleneâs heart constricts at the thought of keeping anything from Dorcas. She hasnât done so since their seventh year when the biggest secret she had been keeping from her was that she wanted to snog her senseless. Doing this would feel like lying, like cheating. But Siriusâ
Siriusâs gap-toothed smile from behind his motherâs robes while his parents and her grandmother were talking. He rolled his eyes behind their backs when her grandmother said something particularly vile and their friendship was solidified forever.
Siriusâs grin when he was Sorted into Gryffindor, bright and brilliant, but with just with enough of a tremor that Marlene wondered if she was the only one that could see the dread beneath.
The prank war and the havoc they wreaked when they teamed up in fifth year, ending themselves in detention for the rest of term, but laughing themselves into oblivion anyway.
A cigarette, just the one between the two of them, the smoke just beginning to drift out of his mouth when she finally got enough courage to utter the words. I think Iâm bent. His answering huff of laughter, not harsh at all, but as gentle as his hand on her shoulder when he drew her in a hug. Arenât we a pair.
His arms around her, the two of them spin-spin-spinning around an empty classroom, as he sang, horribly loud and off-key, until her sobs turned into laughter, until her cheeks were wet from tears of joy, until it was just another dance with Sirius, amazingly coordinated, easily in-sync, as it had always been.
âI know itâs not an easy decision to make,â McGonagall says.
But thatâs just itâitâs so easy it scares her. Itâs no decision at all. âIâll do it. I will. I promise.â Her voice sounds far away to her own ears, but it doesnât tremble.
McGonagall blinks. âVery well.â A second of silence. âIâm glad. And Iâm glad youâre alright, too.â She places her hat back on her head and stands up, brushing off non-existent lint from her emerald-green robes. She presents an impressive picture, like she always has, but the line of her mouth, the set of her jaw donât seem as firm as they once did. Marlene wonders if she is just as afraid as she is, as all of them are, but decides it must be just the blow to the head talking. âI hope you and your family make a full and quick recovery, Miss McKinnon.â she says and walks towards the door.
âTell him thank you,â Marlene gets out before she can open it. McGonagall stops but doesnât turn. âFor all of it.â She swallows. âI will not let him down.â
âI know you wonât, Miss McKinnon,â McGonagall says, an edge of a smile to her lips, and walks out.
Dorcas comes in only moments after McGonagallâs left, her beautiful ringlets mussed all around her face, her t-shirt rumpled, a little colour now returned to her face. Sheâs lost weight, Marlene only now notices. Because of her, Marlene, because she was worried about her. And somehow, the sight of her sleep-deprived, tea-carrying form is simultaneously the most beautiful and heart-breaking thing Marleneâs ever seen. She feels a lump in her throat, her eyes burning. Â
Dorcasâs face crumples. âOh, Lene, oh, love,â she whispers and crosses the space between them to throw herself onto the bed beside her. (The tea somehow ends up on the bedside table, unspilled.)
Her body on Marleneâs is a weight that is definitely not helping her injuries but Marlene doesnât care and just wraps her arms around her and pulls her closer. Dorcas smells like dry leaves and chamomile tea, but, as if the hospital has sunk its claws in her as well, like sleep and the bitter smell of potions, too. Marlene burrows closer to breathe her in. She hopes Dorcas can feel the words she wants to tell her, but simply doesnât have the courage to say, in the kiss she presses to her neck, in the strength of her arms around her, with every breath of air against her skin. Iâm sorry, Iâm sorry, I love you, I love you, I wonât ever go again.
âItâs okay, Lene,â Dorcas whispers, her hand carding through her hair like she understands. Then again, as if sheâs trying to convince herself as well, âItâs okay.â
But itâs not. Itâs not okay and it wonât be for some time. But the promise of a new tomorrow that the feel of Dorcas in her arms brings, the newfound knowledge of Sirius, the sight of the sun, shining clear and strong, is enough to make her think that someday it will be.

Most importantly, almost none of them speak Theo's language. Liam Dunbar is trying to prove himself to his alpha. When the pack takes in a rogue werewolf with dubious morals, he decides that this is his chance. Meanwhile, the Nemeton is drawing more and more dangerous creatures to Beacon Hills every day, and the pack is trying to find a way to shut it down before the town is overrun with the supernatural. Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf by malandrina_TheodoreR
It's the unusual, the detail out of place, it's the muddy boots under the skirt of little red riding hood.

endless list of Doctor Who AUs (2/?)
The New Romantics [NEW SERIES ON AO3]
Itâs 1978 and London is a abuzz with a new pop culture movement. Ever since David Bowie took the stage as Ziggy Stardust six years ago, the New Romantics have dominated the music scene with their glam rock personas and defiant attitudes. Their records and performances are all the rage at the cityâs hottest clubs, and the Blue Box is no exception.Â
John Smith, a burly man who never leaves his leather jacket at home and could lay you out flat with a single punch before you could say âbananaâ (but whoâs actually a teddy bear on the inside), is the clubâs bouncer, and has been for the past ten years. He works there with Jack Harkness, the bartender who flirts with anything that moves - much to the chagrin of his on-again/off-again girlfriend, Donna Noble, who works for the temp agency down the block. He makes a mean X-Rated Tangerine Touch, though, so she lets it slide (with the occasional well-deserved, sometimes-kinky, slap).
Johnâs little sister, Jane Smith, is a tiny blonde feminist firecracker who dreams of forging her way in the world with a girl power group that will blow Britainâs minds. Her piano-playing skills are unparalleled and, with Martha Jones on the guitar, she knows that theyâve got what it takes to make it big. They just need a singer.Â
One comes in the unlikely form of Rose Tyler, Johnâs new friend (who just so happens to be an ex-stripper that went by the stage name of Red Riding Hood and no, Jack, she isnât going to pole dance in the middle of a club where it isnât required). After getting her a job working at the Blue Box, John and Rose grow closer, but his feelings for her may be compromised when A) she opts to join his baby sisterâs band (a foolhardy endeavor which he does not approve of) as their new lead singer, and B) Dr. Theo Noble strolls into the club, all clean-cut suits, messy hair, and with an exuberant energy and a smile that makes all the girls swoon.Â
Will the girls, after coining themselves âBad Wolfâ, make it big?Â
Who will Rose end up with? John, who swept her off her feet when she was at her lowest; Theo, who makes her heart race and her panties drop; or Jane, whose thinly veiled crush is getting harder and harder to conceal?Â
And how many times will Donna slap all of the men in her life, boyfriend, brother, and best mate included, before itâs all over?
Read the first installment, âSeasons of Loveâ, now!Â

post TEN characters youâd like to roleplay as, have roleplayed as, and might bring back, then tag ten people to do the same. Â ( If you canât think of ten characters, just write down however many you can and tag the same amount of people. )
PLEASE REPOST INSTEAD OF REBLOGGING.
HAVE PLAYED
Punisher/Frank Castle (MCU)
Deathstroke/Slade Wilson (CW)
Kylo Ren/Ben Solo
US Agent/John Walker (616, Ultimate, MCU)
Lincoln Clay/Ghost Rider AU (Mafia 3)
Indominus Rex
Indoraptor
King Ghidorah (Toho (various), Legendary)
Godzilla (Toho (anime), Legendary)
Mothra (Toho (anime), Legendary)
Rodan (Legendary)
Kong (Toho, Legendary)
Red Hood/Jason Todd
Batman/Dick Grayson (Earth 2)
Batman/Thomas Wayne (Earth 2, Flashpoint)
Raphael (TMNT)
Nova/Richard Rider (616)
Dean Winchester (SPN)
Castiel (SPN)
Lucifer (SPN)
Theo Raeken (Teen Wolf)
Daredevil/Matt Murdock (MCU)
A few assorted Original Characters, such as a Death Trooper from Star Wars
WOULD LIKE TO PLAY
Superman/Clark Kent (DC) because heâs just such a fun, kind individual and heâs got such an interesting dichotomy between his power and his humanity and such
Thor (616, MCU, Ultimate) because heâs become one of my favorite Avengers and I would also really like to see how he would fit into AUs, particularly a Star Wars AU
Superman/Val Zod (DC Earth 2) because heâs very unique in that heâs a pacifistic superhero, which you donât see very often; his willingness to try to do anything but fight first is fascinating to me
Martian Manhunter (DC) because his abilities are unique and seem like theyâd be a fun challenge to work with and balance out, not to mention his unique personality and backstory
Battra (Toho) because his role as a direct opposite to Mothra makes him particularly interesting to me, having played her for a bit now, not to mention his sort of âchaotic neutralâ sort of role and how he can swap from heroic to villainous on a dime depending on situations
Ford Brody (Godzilla 2014/Legendary) because I loved him as a character despite him being a bit bland in actual execution, I felt like he embodied the saying âstill waters run deepâ and would love to examine him further
Captain America/Steve Rogers (616, MCU especially) because I love him (heâs probably my favorite superhero) and I would love to play with his mix of patriotism, hope, and yet cynicism, particularly in his MCU incarnation. Also, Iâve already played his âknock-offâ as it were in the form of John Walker, whom I also love, so...
Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes (616, MCU especially once again) because Bucky is one of my favorite characters ever and I just adore him to no end and would love to take him along a road of character development to find happiness and to find a purpose, not to mention examining all of the facets of his personality that make him so nuanced and dual-sided as Winter versus Buck
Hyperion (616) because heâs an interesting darker parallel to Superman who still sees himself as a hero but usually is more in the territory of anti-hero
Venom/Eddie Brock (616, Sony Cinematic Universe) just because Venom has always been one of my favorite Spider-man villains
Spider-man/Peter Parker (616, PS4, Into the Spider-verse, etc.) because heâs one of my favorite superheroes ever since I was a kid
Electro/Max Dillon (616, PS4, Sony Cinematic Universe/ASM) because Iâm honestly such a punk for electric/lightning powers (Iâve also considered Cole MacGrath from Infamous) and also for trying to find what makes villains tick, like in Max Dillonâs case with his varying (often unclear?) motivations
Wonder Woman/Diana Prince (DC) because sheâs such an inspiring and hopeful character that just gives me such a warm feeling that I would love to get to spend some more time with her!
Phoenix/Jean Grey (616, XMCU) for similar reasons to Diana, she has such a hopeful outlook when shes not the Dark Phoenix and her recent return in X-Men Red has been so amazing and made me so happy as she tries to help the world in her unique way with her powers
Raven/Rachel Roth (DC) because her powers and her conflicts are just really cool and mesh with some ideas Iâve worked with before on characters like Lincoln and Lucifer and I think she could be a lot of fun and such
Derek Hale (Teen Wolf) because Derek is such a cool character with such a complex personality and evolving sense of morality throughout the show that it would be a lot of fun to see what fun I could have with him
Sergeant Leo Barnes (The Purge) because he seems like a cool character to try to understand, particularly his forgiveness towards his target on Purge night and his similarities towards the Punisher, who Iâve played before like I said
MIGHT BRING BACK
Frank Castle/Punisher, because Iâve always loved him so immensely and found him to be such a fascinating character to get inside of his head and work with his balance between kindness and hate, and violence and gentleness
Lincoln Clay/Ghost Rider AU, because heâs one of my favorite characters Iâve ever worked with, and the idea for him as a Rider meshed so well and has always been one of my favorite things to play when Iâm doing RP, whether heâs feeling good or evil or a bit of both
Theo Raeken, because I loved his mix of evil and misguided intent to try to do something good, even though I quit the show before his (I think?) redemption arc happened (I need to finish it at some point lol)
Batman! Because Batman!
Tagged by: ...i stole it.
Tagging: anyone whoâs interested! :)

Faq Fics: Werewolf!Draco
The Sacrifices We Make by LR Earl - M, WIP -Â After Harry Potter falls in the final Battle, a desperate Order of the Phoenix needs Draco Malfoyâs pack of werewolves to defeat Voldermort. Hermione plans to offer the reclusive Alpha the one thing he canât refuse: a child of his own. But sometimes we find ourselves in the sacrifices we make. AU, Werewolf!Draco, Voldermort!Wins, Mature Themes.
Children of the Dark - Year 7 By: cleotheo - T, 40 chapters - Itâs seventh year and the trio are entering their last year at Hogwarts. With the dark in control and the Order all but defeated, things should be plain sailing for Hermione, Draco and Harry. But their final year of school, will be just like the previous six - full of adventure and excitement. Seventh and final part of a seven part story. Dark Hermione! Dark Harry!
Howl For Me by Kittenshift17- M, WIP -Â Hermione felt a sense of dread grip her when she heard Kingsley begin discussing the idea of replenishing the population and how conception between magical folk wasnât achievable without a matrimonial bond. A marriage law in effect is not something she is pleased about, especially when she learns her match is to Draco Malfoy. HG/DM. GW/BZ. RW/PP. HP/TD.
Iâll Fill The Graves by strawberrykait - M, one shot - All of her friends were dead. He had sworn she would be his at any cost. She was stupid enough to resist.
Not To Me by naarna - NC-17, 6 Chapters - The War is over, Voldemort defeated, and everyone settling into their post-War lives, with Hermione taking up a position at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Yet, when she comes across Dracoâs name in the confidential register of creatures, she leaves everything behind to go off on a search for himâŚ
Cold Side of the Moon by RZZMG - Explicit, 11 chapters -Â Released from Azkaban and tossed into the Forbidden Forest for Voldemortâs entertainment, Hermione Granger must escape the predators and survive for eight days to earn her freedom. She doesnât expect to make it, especially knowing Draco Malfoy, half-breed werewolf, is somewhere in the forest, too, just waiting for the next victim of The Games to arrive.
The Hunger by eilonwy - MA, 10 Chapters - Written for the Dramione Couples Remix fest on LJ. My chosen couple were Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. This story is a dark-ish, contemporary retelling of the original fairy tale with some twists. Itâs actually a bit of a hybrid. See if you can guess which other fairy tale contributes elements to the story as well.
Lessons in Lycanthropy By: bentnotbroken1 - M, WIP - The blame, Draco would later muse, fell on Theoâs shoulders. If it hadnât been for his insistence that they sneak out and throw what the muggles called a âkeggerâ, none of them would have been in the forest that fateful night. But that was exactly what happened. Theo had insisted and that was why he now had the urge to howl at the moon.
Who is the big bad wolf? By: Got-a-quill - M, 9 chapters - âTake me home Malfoyâ I shouted. I was desperate. I didnât want to be here, I wanted to be home. âI canât, not yet anywaysâ He said in almost a whisper.âWhatâs happening?â I asked, as I looked up at the door.âSomething bigâ Was his answer.
Love, Lust, and Draco Malfoy  - NeuroticMuse413 - M, 31 chapters - The werewolfâs curse forces Draco to seek asylum from the Order. When Hermione gets a little too close and Draco bites a little too hard, the two are forever linked. Can they resist their new animal attraction or will Hogwarts be split in two? 6th Yr, M.
Bad Moon Rising - tygermine - M, one-shot - Hermione really needs to stop staring at Draco and concentrate on finding a killer ripping people apart in the streets of Bangkok.Â
Addicted to You By: Kittenshift17 - M, WIP - An act of kismet whilst herb gathering sees Hermione interacting with an unknown werewolf. When he bites her while she is in her animagus form, he sets into motion a twisted destiny that binds them together as mates. With Remus and Sirius there to help her through, Hermione's biggest worry is finding out the identity of the werewolf who marked her.
Finding Peace - goldhorse - MA, 4 chapters - Hermione and Draco have horrific experiences during the war that cause lifelong turmoil. Peace is impossible to to achieve. Or is it?
The Covenant by lifyndra - M, 33 chapters - "Draco Malfoy" is dead and, living under an alias in America, he plans to stay that way.  When Hermione Granger suddenly appears on the scene, he'll do anything to keep her silent on the matter.  If that happens to mean kidnapping her and holding her hostage in his home... indefinitely... so be it.
Instinctive - Â goldhorse - MA, 3 chapters - Voldemort has discovered a new punishment for his victims. Will it make or break them?Â
Only Logical by scifichick774 - NC-17, 11 Chapters - Frustrated at Harry and Ronâs lack of enthusiasm in hunting for the Horcruxes, Hermione launches her own search⌠but pieces of Voldemortâs soul arenât the only things she finds. Tales of The Dragon and The Bookworm by cpetrienm - MA, one-shot - The Mating (My take on Beauty and the Beast with a Dramione twist.)Â
Becoming Beta -Â crochetaway - E, WIP -Â Draco's summer after 5th year was off to a terrible start. Father was in Azkaban. Mother was barely holding it together. The Dark Lord and his Death Eaters were living in his house. Fenrir Greyback and his werewolf pack was living in his dungeons. The Dark Lord had given Draco a seemingly impossible task, and now he had to accept punishment on his father's behalf.
Thanks to all those who helped with this list!
